Why Is My Skin So Dry? Causes, Signs & A Daily Routine for Hydrated Skin

How to Care for Dry Skin: Causes, Signs & A Hydrating Skincare Routine  If your skin feels tight, rough or dull, you may be experiencing dry skin. This common skin concern occurs when the skin struggles to retain moisture, leaving the complexion feeling uncomfortable or uneven. Understanding what causes dry skin is the first step toward supporting your skin with the right care. Environmental factors, skincare habits and lifestyle changes can all influence how hydrated your skin feels. With a gentle skincare ritual and hydrating formulas, you can help replenish moisture and maintain smoother, more comfortable skin. What Causes Dry Skin? Dry skin often occurs when the outer layer of the skin loses moisture more quickly than it can replenish it. Several factors may contribute to dry skin on the face, including: cold or dry climates exposure to wind and sun harsh cleansers or skincare ingredients over-exfoliating the skin hot showers or baths dehydration or lifestyle changes When these factors disrupt the skin’s natural moisture balance, the complexion may begin to feel tight, rough or uncomfortable. If you’re wondering “why is my skin so dry?”, the answer may lie in your environment, skincare routine or natural skin type. Some people naturally have drier skin due to lower oil production, while others experience dryness due to seasonal changes or skincare habits. When the skin lacks sufficient moisture, it may appear dull and uneven, and makeup may cling to dry patches. Supporting the skin with hydrating formulas and a consistent skincare routine can help maintain comfort and balance. What Are the Signs of Dry Skin? Dry skin is a skin type that produces less oil, which can lead to rough texture and flaking. Dehydrated skin, on the other hand, lacks water and may appear dull or tight even if the skin produces oil. Both conditions can benefit from hydrating skincare that helps replenish moisture and maintain skin comfort. Which Ingredients Help Support Hydration? Choosing skincare with hydrating ingredients can help replenish moisture and improve the feeling of comfort in dry skin. Everyday Acts of Nurture

Everyday Acts of Nurture

The act of nurturing is not limited to grand gestures. More often, it’s in the quiet, consistent acts that weave themselves into our daily lives—a cup of tea made just the way you like it, a kind word spoken at the right moment, or the simple act of being present. These are the gestures that, over time, leave the deepest imprint. Ways to Nurture Consider the ways you nurture or feel nurtured in daily life. Sometimes it shows up in actions: a meal cooked with care, a favourite snack left waiting, a blanket tucked in a little tighter, or fresh flowers placed on the table. These gestures may seem small, yet they carry deep meaning, reminding us that we are seen and cared for. We can also nurture through words. A morning check-in message, a quiet moment of listening without distraction, or gentle words of encouragement can shift the course of someone’s day. And then there are gestures: a hand squeezed in reassurance, a warm hug, a smile offered at just the right time that help communicate what words cannot. While these moments may seem ordinary, they quietly shape our relationships, strengthen emotional connections, and build trust, comfort and connection that lasts well beyond the moment. Stories from the Community Nurturing is a language we all understand, yet it speaks to each of us differently. For some, it’s expressed through actions; for others, through words or presence. We asked our community what nurturing meant to them and their relationships. Across cultures and communities, these small acts of nurture—whether spoken, shown, or felt—remind us of the enduring bonds that connect us all. At Jurlique, we believe in the power of nurture, from the way we cultivate our land and carefully tend to our botanicals on our biodynamic* farm to the way we thoughtfully craft each formula and create daily rituals that help nurture skin, body, and mind. Nurturing is built on patience, attention and love, expressed in everyday moments that may seem small but hold profound meaning. This Mother’s Day, let us honour not only the grand gestures, but also the quiet, consistent acts of care that mean the most.   *Certified biodynamic by ACO Certification Ltd, Australia. Meet our Farm-Grown Manuka Leaf

Meet our Farm-Grown Manuka Leaf

Since 1985, we’ve cultivated potent botanicals on our biodynamic* farm in the pristine Adelaide Hills, guided by a pioneering spirit to uncover new ways to nurture skin naturally. Our belief in continuous botanical discovery led us to Manuka Leaf, a resilient Australian native traditionally known for its calming properties. And today, we’re proud to showcase Jurlique’s newest botanical in select Calendula products. What Makes Manuka Leaf Special You may know the Manuka plant for its famous honey or essential oil, but the leaf holds a unique potential of its own. And until now, it has been largely unexplored in skincare. The Manuka plant, or Leptospermum scoparium, is a flowering shrub that thrives in Australia’s landscapes. It’s a naturally resilient and adaptive plant, and its leaves are rich in antioxidants and barrier-strengthening properties. Traditionally used in Māori and Australian cultures as a calming tea or topical remedy, Manuka Leaf has long been known to relieve irritation. We’ve now taken that heritage a step further, unlocking its potential through modern science. The Power of Manuka Leaf Jurlique is the first to cultivate and validate the benefits of Bio-Intrinsic™ Manuka Leaf extract in skincare. The rigorously tested antioxidant-rich Manuka Leaf defends against environmental factors, soothes, and supports the skin’s barrier**. ***In-vitro study The Manuka plant is the first Australian native to be grown on our biodynamic* farm. The leaves are harvested at their peak, while the delicate flowers are left untouched, feeding our bees and supporting biodiversity on the farm. Using our signature Bio-Intrinsic™ extraction method, we are able to preserve the natural composition of the leaf while concentrating its active compounds. The result is a clean, potent botanical extract rich in soothing benefits**. **In-vitro study Manuka Leaf and Calendula - Our Soothing Duo for Sensitive Skin In today’s fast-moving world, our skin feels it all. A Daily Reset With Georgia Gibbs

A Daily Reset With Georgia Gibbs

Model, entrepreneur and wellness advocate Georgia Mae Gibbs is known for her holistic approach to beauty and lifestyle. Her self-care philosophy aligns closely with Jurlique’s belief in nurturing both skin and soul through mindful rituals and nature-powered skincare. It’s this thoughtful approach that makes her the perfect guide as we explore how modern life affects our skin and how to reset skin, body and mind. Environmental Stressors & Skin From sunrise to sundown, your skin is exposed to more than meets the eye. Harsh weather, pollution, stress, and lack of sleep—these are all part of the exposome: the collection of external and internal factors shown to accelerate visible signs of ageing. It is scientifically proven that over 80% of skin ageing is caused by these lifestyle and environmental stressors.* When these factors build up, skin can begin to feel depleted, lacking its usual glow, smoothness, and resilience. That’s why mindful daily rituals matter. Taking a few minutes each day to reset your mind and revitalise your skin can make all the difference. To help us on our journey, Georgia shared how she resets her day, mindfully and meaningfully, while defending her skin from the stressors of modern life. Reset with Georgia Mae Gibbs For Georgia, wellbeing starts with the little things. Her daily reset is less about perfection and more about presence. Here are a few of her favourite ways to pause and recharge: Mindful Mornings: Begin the day slowly, in nature if possible. No phone, no noise, just you and early morning sun. Whether it’s a few minutes of meditation or gentle breathwork, these quiet moments help ease the mind and set the tone of your day. Sometimes, stopping is the most productive thing we can do. Hydration First: A big glass of water first thing (with a little slice of lemon) helps wake up the system, followed by a hearty breakfast and a warm cup of herbal tea to nourish and ground the body from the inside out. Energising Skincare Ritual: Your daily skincare ritual is an invitation to pause, reconnect, and reset both skin and self. Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum is the perfect way to energise tired skin. Used with the cooling facial Spoon, it becomes a sensorial experience that soothes the complexion and leaves skin feeling revitalised and radiant. The Perfect Pick-Me-Up: For those late nights, long flights, or demanding days, reach for Herbal Recovery Eye Roll-On. The cooling roller helps to de-puff, hydrate and revitalise the eye area, making it the perfect companion for life on the go. Keep it in the fridge for an extra-soothing touch on warm days. Intentional Movement: Movement is a form of mindfulness. It might be Pilates, a walk in nature, or stretching in the living room. It’s important to listen to your body, moving in tune with your energy levels and natural cycles. Evening Ritual: Evenings are the perfect time to slow down, calm the nervous system and ease the mind. Begin by dimming the lights and lighting a calming candle or diffusing a gentle aromatherapy blend, something soft and grounding, to signal to the body that it’s time to unwind. Then take a few minutes to journal and reflect on the day. These small practices are easy to implement into your everyday life, and over time, they become powerful tools to support your skin and sense of wellbeing. A Natural Collaboration Georgia’s collaboration with Jurlique is rooted in shared values, a belief in the power of nature and a mindful approach to beauty. The Herbal Recovery range complements her daily reset rituals, helping to revitalise tired skin, reduce visible signs of stress, and restore a radiant, healthy-looking glow. Whether it’s a moment of stillness in the morning or winding down in the evening, these rituals remind us to pause and care for ourselves with intention. Discover your own reset with Herbal Recovery, and bring more calm, clarity and vitality into every day.   *Roveda, G., Cestone, E., De Gennaro, F., Poggi, A., Insolia, V., Zaccaria, V., & Nobile, V. Unlock Your Skin's Secret Power Source

Unlock Your Skin's Secret Power Source

We’ve all had those days where our glow feels dimmed, texture feels uneven, and our skin has lost its bounce. It’s more than a sleepless night or the shift in seasons. Often, it’s a sign that your skin’s energy reserves are running low. Just like the rest of your body, your skin needs nourishment, rest, and its own form of fuel to restore and renew. That fuel is ATP, the natural energy that powers your skin’s vitality. Why ATP Matters When ATP levels drop, your skin struggles to keep up with daily stressors, whether air pollution, harsh weather, stress, or lack of sleep. With less energy to repair and renew, signs of ageing become more noticeable. But when ATP is supported? Skin’s radiance is restored, helping to boost its appearance. Boosting ATP is like giving your skin its own personal recharge, waking it up from the inside out. How Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum Recharges Skin Our Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum is powered by our exclusive Jurlique Recovery Blend, shown to energise skin and increase ATP by 19%*. Our signature blend features Holy Basil, a potent adaptogen known for its ability to fight free radicals and reduce signs of ageing. The lightweight formula, featuring a perfect balance of oil and water, is clinically proven to smooth the appearance of fine lines¹, leaving skin feeling supple, radiant and revitalised. Ritual Tip: For best results, apply our Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum after your Activating Water Essence+. This helps prepare the skin for deeper absorption and can help maximise the serum’s energising benefits. Energised Skin = Radiant Skin When your skin is energised, it feels more resilient, more alive. By supporting the skin's natural energy with thoughtful rituals and powerful actives, you're nurturing the vitality within, revealing a more radiant, healthy-looking complexion.
