Gifts Made for Everyday Moments
The most meaningful gifts aren’t always the most elaborate. They’re the ones that find their place in everyday life, the ones that sit on the vanity, by the sink, in the shower or beside the bed. The ones that are reached for without thinking, becoming part of familiar routines and quiet moments of care long after the festive season has passed. Gifts for Morning & Evening Rituals A considered skincare set is something they’ll reach for each morning as they get ready for the day, and again in the evening as they wind down. It’s a timeless gift delivering visible results while creating lasting moments of care. Our Rare Rose Ritual pairs our iconic Activating Water Essence+ with our Rosewater Balancing Mist and Rare Rose Face Oil, proven to instantly strengthen the skin barrier1, reduce dryness2, and smooth skin texture2. Our Hand Care Heroes, featuring four botanical-rich formulas in Rose, Lavender, Citrus and Aloe Vera, are thoughtfully curated for these moments, each offering hydration, softness and a unique sensory experience to suit your mood and ritual. Easy to gift, easy to carry, and easy to use. Perfect for handbags, desks or travel, they bring moments of care into the everyday. The festive season is filled with moments we look forward to, but your skin often feels the impact. From sun-drenched days and family afternoons by the beach, to long-haul journeys and evenings spent hosting, routines can quickly fall out of rhythm. Days stretch longer, nights run later, and with richer foods, shifting schedules and less time to reset, skin can begin to feel dehydrated, dull and out of balance. The good news? Festive beauty doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s built on small, repeatable rituals, moments of care that fit easily into your day, helping to restore hydration, revive radiance, and keep skin feeling balanced through the season. For Hydration & Glow The festive season calls for skin that looks fresh, hydrated and ready for every celebration. But with changing routines, packed social calendars, and environmental stress, hydration is often the first thing to go. Reintroducing moisture through a simple, consistent ritual can make all the difference. Our Rare Rose Ritual brings together three favourites, including our iconic Activating Water Essence+, which instantly improves hydration by 55%1, preparing skin and maximising the benefits of each skincare step. Follow with our Rare Rose Face Oil to strengthen the skin barrier2, and boost moisture throughout the day with our Rosewater Balancing Mist. For a Post-Celebration Reset Late nights, travel, and back-to-back celebrations can leave skin looking tired, stressed and in need of a quick reset. Proven to improve suppleness by 10.4%3, our Herbal Recovery Bi-Phase Serum is designed to revitalise and bring skin back to its best. This award-winning serum, powered by our Recovery Blend of Holy Basil, Iris Root and Black Elderflower, helps smooth the appearance of fine lines3 and reveal a more radiant, revitalised complexion. For Busy Hands Hands are often the most exposed (and most overlooked), especially during the festive season. Frequent washing, cooking, and time in the sun can leave them dry and depleted. Enriched with handpicked Jurlique Rose, our bestselling Rose Hand Cream deeply nourishes and softens, restoring comfort while leaving a delicate scent, perfect for slipping into your day, wherever a moment of care is needed most. For Full-Body Relaxation In a season that moves quickly, small, intentional moments can help restore your skin and a sense of calm. A refreshing shower after a day in the sun, or a quiet moment to unwind after a full evening of festivities, can help reset both skin and mind. Our Rose Hand and Body Indulgence provides full-body relaxation with three rose-infused essentials: a shower gel, body lotion, and hand cream, each enriched with nourishing botanicals to gently cleanse, soften, and comfort dry skin. For Daily Defence From beachside moments to sun-filled days on holiday, increased time outdoors makes protecting your skin an essential daily ritual. Our UV Daily Defence Lotion SPF 50+ offers lightweight, high-performance protection against UVA and UVB rays. With an antioxidant-rich formula (that leaves no white cast), it helps defend against environmental stressors, while keeping your complexion hydrated and glowing. It’s an effortless step that ensures your skin is protected, no matter where the season takes you. Among the late nights, long lunches and action-packed days of the festive season, it’s the daily rituals and moments of on-the-go care that keep skin feeling its best. A layer of hydration in the morning or SPF at the beach, a quiet hand care moment at the kitchen sink, a restorative skincare ritual before bed, these are the habits that keep skin feeling soft, radiant and supported all season long. 1Based on 32 subjects using Activating Water Essence+ after 10 minutes 2Clinical study, 50 subjects, 30 minutes after a single application 3Based on a clinical evaluation of 32 subjects using the product twice daily for 28 days.
Read moreThe Power of Scent & Memory
There’s a reason certain scents feel like they belong to a memory. Our sense of smell is deeply connected to the brain. When the olfactory receptors in the nose detect an aroma, they send signals directly to the limbic system, the part of the brain that governs emotion and memory. It’s why a single note can instantly transport you. The crisp scent of a Christmas tree, the soft fragrance of a candle, or the sweet smell of festive treats in the oven can bring a moment back to life, from festive Christmas mornings to laughter-filled kitchens or slow, quiet nights. A familiar fragrance doesn’t just remind you of a moment. It lets you feel it again. More than a memory, scent is an experience that nurtures both body and mind. It can soothe, comfort, uplift, or energise. At Jurlique, our farm-grown botanicals act as both potent ingredients and emotional anchors, combining skin-loving benefits with natural aromas that transform everyday care into meaningful rituals. Rose Soft, delicate and instantly recognisable, rose is a scent we return to time and time again. Often associated with comfort, care and a sense of calm, rose has been shown to help ease the mind, making it a timeless companion in quiet moments. Our Rare Rose Face Oil is helps to lower cortisol levels and reduce the negative effects of stress on both skin and mind1, transforming everyday skincare into a relaxing ritual. It might be the simple ritual of washing your hands before a shared meal. The quiet pause at the sink or a moment of calm amidst the festive bustle. The feeling of comfort found in the smallest, most familiar moments. Infused with handpicked Jurlique Rose, our Rose Hand Cream transforms these everyday acts into something more, hydrating, softening and nourishing skin, while leaving behind a subtle floral trail that lingers like a memory. A light spritz of Rosewater Balancing Mist throughout is proven to boost hydration levels by 118%2, refreshing skin and uplifting the senses with its delicate rose scent. Citrus Bright, fresh and full of life, citrus awakens the senses with its unmistakable freshness. Known for its energising properties, citrus helps refresh the mind, boost mood, and bring a sense of renewal. It’s the memory of morning light streaming through the window, the first deep breath of the day, and the refreshing feeling after stepping out of the shower. Infused with notes of Lemon, Mandarin, and Tangerine, our Citrus Hand and Body Indulgence refreshes both skin and senses. Our soap-free Citrus Shower Gel cleanses without drying, leaving skin soft, fresh, and delicately scented, while our Citrus Body Lotion and Citrus Hand Cream melt quickly into skin to hydrate and nourish. Lavender As the day slows, scent becomes softer. More grounding. Lavender has long been known for its calming properties, with an instantly recognisable aroma that can promote relaxation,. It’s why this familiar scent is so often linked to rest, signalling the body to unwind and prepare for sleep. Our Lavender Hand Cream nourishes, smooths, and comforts, while its soothing aroma helps calm the senses, perfect for those quiet moments before bed. A Gift That Becomes a Memory The most meaningful gifts are the ones that become part of everyday life; woven into quiet rituals, shared spaces, and simple moments of care. With every touch, scent and texture, our farm-grown botanicals help anchor these moments, staying with us long after the season has passed. 1Clinical study conducted by POLA Chemicals of the cortisol level in saliva before and after smelling the Rare Rose fragrance, 50 subjects. Result reflects temporary sensory and emotional responses. 2Based on a corneometer study of 33 participants using Rosewater Balancing Mist, after 10 minutes of application.
Read moreWhy Does My Skin Feel Tight After Cleansing?
Skin that feels squeaky and stretched after you rinse can seem like the sign of a thorough clean. More often, it's a sign your cleanser has taken a little too much with it. When your skin feels tight after cleansing, the natural oils and moisture that keep your skin barrier comfortable have usually been stripped away. A small change to how you cleanse can make a real difference, so here's what's behind that feeling, and how to help skin find its way back to soft and balanced. The Science Behind That Tight Feeling Your skin's outermost layer, the stratum corneum, is held together by natural lipids that keep moisture in and irritants out. A good cleanser lifts away make-up, pollution and the day's build-up while leaving most of those lipids in place. A harsh formula takes some of them too. Without them, the outer layer loses water and contracts slightly. A 2023 study from Stanford University, published in PNAS Nexus, found that this tiny contraction sends signals to sensory receptors deeper in the skin, which the brain reads as tightness. The researchers' predictions closely matched what thousands of women reported after trying cleansers and moisturisers, and showed a good moisturiser has the opposite effect, helping the outer layer take on water so the feeling eases. Is it bad if my skin feels tight after cleansing? A fleeting tightness that settles once you moisturise isn't a concern. If skin feels tight and dry after cleansing every time, or the feeling lingers, it's a sign your cleanser may be too harsh and your barrier is struggling to hold on to moisture. Left alone, that can lead to what we call the dehydration loop: a weaker barrier lets water escape, and every bit of water lost weakens the barrier further. Over time, skin may look dull, feel uncomfortable and start reacting to products that never bothered it before. Tightness can point to dry skin, which naturally produces less oil, or dehydrated skin, which lacks water and can affect any skin type, oily included. If it's a regular thing, our guide on how to deal with dehydrated skin is a good next read. What makes skin feel tight after washing? It's rarely one thing. Usually, it's a few everyday habits adding up: A cleanser that strips rather than cleans. Harsh cleansing agents and alkaline formulas lift away dirt along with the lipids your barrier relies on, and can unsettle skin's naturally slightly acidic balance. Water that's too hot. It feels lovely, but it dissolves skin's natural oils faster than lukewarm water does. Over-cleansing and over-exfoliating. Washing more than twice a day, scrubbing hard or exfoliating too often wears the barrier down faster than it can recover. Skipping hydration after cleansing. Leave freshly cleansed skin bare for too long and tightness tends to creep in. Your surroundings. Air-conditioning, heating, cold wind and dry air all draw moisture from skin, which is why tightness often shows up in winter or after a long flight. How to cleanse without the tightness Choose a cleanser that suits your skin from our cleansers range. Afterwards, skin should feel soft and comfortable, never stretched. Keep the water lukewarm, and pat skin dry rather than rubbing. Cleanse morning and night, and no more unless you've been exercising. Hydrate while skin is still slightly damp, with an essence or serum, then one of our moisturisers or a few drops from our face oils range. Go easy on exfoliation until skin feels comfortable again. For skin that leans dry, our dry skin edit brings together formulas made to replenish and comfort. Building a ritual that leaves skin comfortable Cleansing is often where tightness begins, so it's the place to start. Our Replenishing Cleansing Lotion is a creamy cleanser enriched with farm-grown Marshmallow Root, shea butter and softening plant oils, including Jojoba, Squalane, Macadamia and Avocado. It removes make-up and impurities in a single clean, and is safe for use around the eye area¹. On days when skin feels balanced, Radiant Skin Foaming Cleanser offers a lightly whipped foam with Soapberry Extract and eight botanicals handpicked from our farm. Follow straight away with Activating Water Essence+. Its two Marshmallow Root extracts prepare skin for the steps that follow, and it's clinically proven to improve skin hydration by 55% immediately after application², with continuous hydration throughout the day and night³. Then reach for Rare Rose Serum, a water-weight serum with our exclusive farm-grown Jurlique Rose and Intense Rose, plus two types of hyaluronic acids. It boosts hydration by 52% and reduces water loss by 20% in just 30 minutes⁴, and suits all skin types, including sensitive. To finish, layer on Rare Rose Emulsion. Its sheer, milky texture boosts hydration by 53% and reduces water loss by 32% in 30 minutes⁵, leaving skin soft, balanced and replenished⁶. Still not sure where to start? Frequently asked questions Does healthy skin feel tight? No. Freshly cleansed, healthy skin should feel clean, soft and comfortable. A moment of tightness that eases quickly is nothing to worry about, but skin that feels stretched every time you wash is asking for a gentler touch. Why does my skincare make my face feel tight? It isn't always the cleanser. Clay masks, alcohol-heavy toners and actives like exfoliating acids or retinoids can all leave skin feeling taut. If the tightness follows one step in particular, pause it for a week and see how skin responds. Why does my face feel rubbery after cleansing? That squeaky, almost rubbery feel usually means skin's natural oils have been stripped away. Leftover cleanser can add to it, so rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and hydrate straight after. Can oily skin feel tight after cleansing? Yes, and often. Oily skin tends to be treated with stronger cleansers, which can leave it dehydrated while it still produces plenty of oil. ¹ Based on an ophthalmological in-use safety evaluation of 20 subjects. ² Based on 32 subjects using Activating Water Essence+, measured 10 minutes after application. ³ Based on 30 subjects using a single application of Activating Water Essence+, measured 6 hours after application. ⁴ Clinical study, 51 subjects, 30 minutes after a single application. ⁵ Clinical study, 53 subjects, 30 minutes after a single application. ⁶ Consumer survey, 53 subjects, immediately after a single application. Read moreHow to Reduce Fine Lines and Wrinkles
With expert insights from Katie Morris, Jurlique Retail & Spa Educator · 15+ years as a Jurlique Beauty Therapist Fine lines at the corners of your eyes, a crease on the forehead that lingers a little longer than it used to. They're a natural part of how skin changes, and while no cream can turn back time, a few consistent habits can soften their look. Daily sun protection, steady hydration, gentle cleansing and a considered skincare ritual make the biggest difference to wrinkle reduction. Here's how to put them to work across your face, eyes, mouth and forehead, and when an in-clinic wrinkle treatment might be worth a conversation. What causes fine lines and wrinkles? Skin ages in two ways. The first is time: collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep skin firm and springy, gradually decline, natural oil production slows and skin renews itself more slowly. The second is everything skin meets day to day. The sun is the biggest of these. UV exposure is one of the main contributors to visible skin ageing, and with Australia recording one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, daily protection matters more here than almost anywhere. Years of smiling, squinting and frowning etch the first lines around the eyes, mouth and forehead. And when skin is dehydrated, it can't stay plump enough to smooth them out, so lines look deeper than they are. Fine lines are the shallow creases you notice first. Wrinkles are the deeper folds that stay put even when your face is relaxed. How to reduce fine lines and wrinkles on your face Cleanse without stripping Skin that feels tight and squeaky after washing is a sign your cleanser is doing too much. A soft, botanical cleanser from our cleansers range, with lukewarm water, keeps skin comfortable so lines don't look more pronounced. Treat with a serum Serums carry a higher concentration of active ingredients than moisturisers alone, so they earn their place straight after cleansing. Moisturise, then seal with oil A rich formula from our moisturisers range helps replenish skin as it naturally produces less oil with age. If your skin wants more, press a few drops from our face oils range over the top, especially at night. Protect, every morning Cancer Council Australia recommends sunscreen every day the UV Index is 3 or above, which covers most of the year across most of the country. Make a broad-spectrum, SPF 50+ the last step of your morning ritual, rain or shine. Mask two to three times a week A rich cream mask gives skin a deeper surge of hydration between your daily steps. For more on caring for skin as it matures, see our complete guide to anti-ageing skin care. Ingredients that help reduce the look of wrinkles Hyaluronic acid and glycerin draw water into the skin, so it looks plumper and lines appear softer. Antioxidants such as vitamins C and E help skin defend itself against environmental aggressors like pollution. Vitamin A derivatives, or retinoids, are among the most researched ingredients for smoother-looking skin, though they can cause irritation, so introduce them slowly and avoid them during pregnancy. Plant oils, rich in fatty acids, soften skin and help it hold on to moisture, while peptides help support a firmer, smoother look. How to reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes The skin around your eyes is thinner than the rest of your face, so it's often where lines appear first. Give it its own eye formula, tapped on gently with your ring finger rather than rubbed in. And count your sunglasses as skincare: less squinting in bright light means less creasing over time. How to soften wrinkles around the mouth Smile lines, and the folds that run from nose to mouth, deepen as skin loses firmness and moisture. You can't erase them at home, but you can soften their look. Keep the area well hydrated, and when you apply your face oil, massage it upwards and outwards. How to soften forehead lines Forehead lines are mostly expression lines, the result of years of raised brows and furrowed concentration. Daily SPF, rich hydration and a regular cream mask help them look smoother. For deeper lines, a dermatologist can talk you through in-clinic options. And whatever else you're noticing, see your GP or a dermatologist about any spot or mole that changes in size, shape or colour. How to reduce wrinkles and fine lines naturally If you'd rather reduce skin wrinkles naturally, some of what helps most happens away from the bathroom cabinet. Good sleep, plenty of water, a diet rich in fruit, vegetables and healthy fats, and cutting back on alcohol and cigarettes all show up in your skin. Plant oils and extracts can nourish and soften skin, and many have antioxidant properties that help it defend against environmental aggressors. We've been growing ours on our farm in the Adelaide Hills since 1985, and pairing them with clinical testing so you know what they do. Building your ritual for fine lines and wrinkles Our signs of ageing collection puts these principles into practice, pairing farm-grown botanicals with clinically tested formulas. For your treatment step, Nutri-Define Supreme Rejuvenating Serum is powered by Spilanthes grown on our Adelaide Hills farm, and is clinically proven to significantly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles¹. "What I love about this serum is how it works holistically to support the skin," says Jurlique in-house expert Katie Morris. "It helps to hydrate and enhance natural radiance." Nutri-Define Supreme Restorative Rich Cream. A nourishing moisturiser for mature skin that needs extra hydration and comfort. "As skin matures, maintaining both hydration and firmness becomes increasingly important," says Morris. "A rich moisturiser with botanical actives like this helps to nourish the skin while achieving a smoother and more redefined appearance." To seal it all in, Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil blends nine plant oils with our farm-grown Black Elderflower, Silver Birch Leaf and Licorice Root. After 28 days, skin smoothness improved by 26%² and firmness by 18%³. "In professional treatments, our facial oils are used to nourish and support the skin barrier," says Morris. "A silky botanical oil like this helps skin smoothness while enhancing radiance and vitality." Around the eyes, Nutri-Define Supreme Eye Contour Balm is a rich balm clinically proven to significantly firm the eye area after 56 days⁴. And two to three times a week, treat skin to Nutri-Define Cream Mask. Tara Fruit and Red Algae extracts give an instantly lifted, firmer look⁵, while the formula helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles⁶, with naturally derived hyaluronic acid to help maintain moisture. Still not sure where to start? Get in touch with our team for personalised advice, or explore our full face range to build a ritual around your skin. From seed to skin, our farm to you. Frequently asked questions What's the secret to reducing wrinkles? Consistency, more than any single product. Daily SPF, steady hydration and a ritual you keep up morning and night will do more over time than anything used once in a while. What tightens skin immediately? Some formulas give an instant lifting effect on the skin's surface. Nutri-Define Cream Mask, for example, leaves skin looking lifted and firmer 30 minutes after a single application⁵. What vitamin gets rid of wrinkles? None on its own. Vitamin A derivatives are among the most researched ingredients for smoother-looking skin, and vitamin E has antioxidant properties that help protect skin from environmental aggressors. Our Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil is enriched with both Vitamin. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor before using products containing vitamin A. Does anything actually help fine lines and wrinkles? Yes, within limits. Clinically tested formulas can soften their appearance, but results build gradually, so give anything new at least four weeks of regular use. How do you eliminate forehead lines? At home, you can soften them rather than eliminate them. For deeper lines, a dermatologist can advise on in-clinic wrinkle treatment. Are forehead wrinkles permanent? Fine forehead lines can look much softer with good care. Deeper wrinkles that stay visible when your face is relaxed tend to last, but a consistent ritual can still help make them less noticeable. ¹ Clinical study, 51 subjects using Nutri-Define Supreme Rejuvenating Serum for 28 days. ² Based on the smoothness parameter using image analysis on 30 subjects using Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil for 28 days. ³ Based on cutometry measurements on 30 subjects using Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil for 28 days. ⁴ Cutometer measurements on 53 subjects using Nutri-Define Supreme Eye Contour Balm for 56 days. ⁵ Based on Dynaskin measurements on 30 subjects taken 30 minutes after a single application of Nutri-Define Cream Mask. ⁶ Based on the analysis of skin topography through photographs of 54 subjects taken 30 minutes after a single application of Nutri-Define Cream Mask. Read moreHow to Layer Your Skincare for Hydration
There's a reason skin can still feel tight by the end of the day, even with a full shelf of hydrating products. It's rarely about what you're using. It's about the order you're using it in. A hydrating skincare routine works because each formula is layered so it can actually do its job, not despite how many steps it has. Hydration vs. Moisturising Skin holds up to 70% water, and we lose close to half a litre of it a day through evaporation. Dehydration isn't about how much product you own, it's about whether water is being replenished, spread evenly, and then kept in. A skincare for hydrating skin approach has to do all three: replenish what's lost, regulate how it's distributed, and reinforce the skin barrier so it doesn't just evaporate again. That's the thinking behind our new Rare Rose range: hydrate skin, calm mind, glow from within. How to Layer Skincare Products, Step by Step The rule for how to layer skincare products is simple: lightest to richest, water-based formulas first, oils and creams last, so each layer absorbs before the next goes on. 1. Cleanse. Every ritual begins here. A gentle cleanse clears the day away without stripping the moisture your skin needs for the steps that follow. 2. Prep with an essence. On damp, freshly cleansed skin, smooth on Activating Water Essence+. Built around two Marshmallow Root extracts, it's clinically proven to lift hydration by 155% within ten minutes¹, with continuous hydration through the day and night². It softens skin and helps everything that follows absorb more effectively, while our Radiance blend of Rosa gallica, Calendula and Lavender extracts leaves a natural glow behind. 3. Treat with a serum. Rare Rose Serum, from our face range, is powered by our two farm-grown roses, the Jurlique Rose and Intense Rose, alongside two molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid. It's clinically proven to instantly strengthen skin barrier function in every participant tested, and lifts hydration by 52% within half an hour³. 4. Moisturise. This is where you choose your texture. For a lightweight, everyday finish, follow with Rare Rose Emulsion, a sheer, milky formula proven to lift hydration by 53% in thirty minutes⁴, with 98% of consumers agreeing their skin felt softer and more radiant after one use⁵. For richer, longer-lasting hydration, reach for Rare Rose Cream instead. Its Rose Droplet technology slowly releases Jurlique Rose oil onto skin throughout the day, alongside Cupuacu Butter and a botanical alternative to hyaluronic acid, and it's clinically proven to lift hydration by 16% instantly⁶ while providing 24-hour hydration from a single use⁷. Either texture, apply a pearl-sized amount and smooth evenly over face, neck and décolletage, morning and/or evening, after your serum. 5. Seal with a face oil, if you need it. Not every skin needs this step, but if yours runs dry, finish with two to three drops of Rare Rose Face Oil. Lightweight and dry to the touch, it's shown to add 34% more hydration through the day⁸. Pat it on as a final step, or mix a few drops into your moisturiser or essence instead. Don't stop at your jawline. The same lightest-first, richest-last principle applies to the body too, particularly through drier months. How to Maximise Hydration in Your Skincare Routine A few habits make the difference between a routine that works and one that just sits on the skin. Apply to skin that's still a little damp. Humectants in the essence and serum are designed to grab onto water, and they'll pull it from your skin's surface if there isn't any nearby to draw on instead. Don't skip the last step. However hydrating a serum is, it will evaporate without a moisturiser or oil on top to hold it there. Let your skin decide the order, not habit. If you introduce something new, place it by how light or rich it feels rather than defaulting to where you're used to putting it, since a heavier formula applied too early can block everything layered after it. Building a Skincare Routine for Hydration A skincare routine for hydration doesn't need to be complicated, but it does benefit from consistency. The same sequence, morning and night, essence, serum, moisturiser, and an oil where needed, helps skin hold onto moisture between applications rather than starting from scratch each day. For a skincare routine for optimal hydration, pair this with our guide on how to hydrate your skin to work out whether your skin needs more hydration or more moisture to begin with. Not sure which combination suits you? Get in touch with our team for a personal recommendation. FAQs What is the best skin care routine for hydration? One that layers water-based, hydrating formulas, like an essence and serum, underneath a moisturiser that seals it all in. How to add hydration to skincare? Introduce a hydrating essence or serum before your moisturiser, applied to slightly damp skin, so it can draw moisture in rather than sit on the surface. What to put on skin for hydration? Look for Hyaluronic Acid and rose extract to draw water in, paired with Rosehip Oil or a face oil to help keep it from evaporating back out. What is a good skincare routine for hydration? Cleanse, prep with an essence, treat with a serum, then follow with an emulsion or cream, layering lightest to richest so each formula can do its job. ¹ Based on 32 subjects using Activating Water Essence+ with a baseline of 100% after 10 minutes. ² Based on 30 subjects using a single application of Activating Water Essence+, measured 6 hours after application. ³ Clinical study, 51 subjects, 30 minutes after a single application. ⁴ Clinical study, 53 subjects, 30 minutes after a single application. ⁵ Consumer survey, 53 subjects, immediately after a single application. ⁶ Based on a trial of 22 people using Rare Rose Cream, measured by corneometry on the cheekbone immediately after application. ⁷ Based on a trial of 22 people using Rare Rose Cream, measured by corneometry on the forearm 24 hours after a single application. ⁸ Clinical study, 50 subjects, 8 hours after a single application.

What does 120 hours of hydration really mean for your skin? Does it mean your skin stays hydrated for five days straight? That you don’t need to reapply? Or that the product somehow stays on your skin the entire time? It’s an easy assumption, but not quite how it works. You’re still cleansing, applying products daily and going about your routine. What it really speaks to is performance. A high-performing formula helps support the skin barrier and helps to reduce water loss, so your skin can retain hydration for longer, give you radiant, glowing skin. Our Rare Rose Range was thoughtfully crafted with this in mind. The ultra-lightweight, ultra-clean formulas, powered by 100% natural origin ingredients¹, deliver with 120-hour hydration2, helping skin stay soft, resilient and replenished long after application. In this guide, we break down the science behind the claim so you can understand how long-lasting hydration works, and why it makes all the difference to your skin. What Does 120 Hours of Hydration Mean? When we talk about 120 hours of hydration, we’re referring to how your skin retains hydration even 5 days after the last application of product. While some hydrating products deliver instant softness or plumpness, this can quickly fade if the skin cannot retain moisture. Our 120 hour hydration works differently. It strengthens the skin barrier and supports how moisture is received, distributed and held within the skin, helping skin to retain hydration over time. Hydration is the foundation of healthy-looking, radiant skin. And when hydration is maintained, skin doesn’t just look better, it functions at its best, feeling more supple and resilient, with a lasting, natural glow. 100% Natural Origin Skincare Our Rare Rose Range delivers hydration through a multi-layered approach, combining advanced skin science and rich botanical expertise. Our Rare Rose Serum features a fresh, lightweight formula with two Hyaluronic Acids. High-molecular-weight Hyaluronic Acid instantly boosts hydration by attracting moisture to the surface, while low-molecular-weight Hyaluronic Acid delivers a continuous surge of hydration3 to help plump and smooth4 skin. Our Rare Rose Emulsion features an innovative new texture that combines the comfort of a cream with the lightness of a lotion, melting seamlessly into the skin. Enriched with high-molecular-weight Hyaluronic Acid, it helps boost surface hydration, leaving skin feeling soft and replenished. And at the heart of these formulas is our exclusive rose duo, Jurlique Rose and Intense Rose, grown and hand-harvested on our biodynamic farm5. In our Rare Rose Face Oil, the Supercritical CO₂ extraction method, captures new components of Jurlique Rose to unlock enhanced benefits for the skin. As a result, these botanicals have been proven to boost hydration6, support water flow within the skin7, and help strengthen the skin barrier8, locking in moisture. Who is Rare Rose For? Tight, dull skin that doesn't respond to moisturiser is often a sign of dehydration, not dryness, one of the most common, and most misunderstood, skin concerns. Here's what causes it, and how to help skin find its way back to balance. What is Dehydrated Skin? Skin holds around 70% water, and loses close to half a litre a day through evaporation. Dehydration sets in once that water drops faster than skin can replace it. Unlike dry, oily or combination skin, dehydration isn't a skin type — it's a condition that can affect any skin, and it usually improves once the cause is addressed. If you're not sure whether you're dealing with dehydration or genuinely dry skin, see the difference here. How Does Skin Prevent Dehydration? That job falls to the skin barrier, the outermost layer, that works to keep water in and everything else out. A healthy barrier holds onto moisture efficiently, and skin looks plump and feels comfortable. Once it's weakened, water escapes faster than it can be replaced, which is why dehydrated skin can feel like it's soaking up product without ever actually feeling hydrated. "A compromised skin barrier can contribute to dehydration and the appearance of premature ageing. Reinforcing barrier function is essential for resilient, hydrated skin," says Jurlique in-house expert Aline Lerond. What Does Dehydrated Skin Look Like? Signs of Dehydrated Skin Tightness, most noticeable after cleansing Dullness, even when nothing else has changed Itchiness or general discomfort Sensitivity to products that didn't bother skin before More visible fine lines, since skin isn't plump enough to smooth them out Because dehydration is about water, not oil, oily and acne-prone skin can be just as affected as dry skin, often more, since drying treatments are usually what trigger it. What Causes Dehydrated Skin? Dehydrated Skin Causes It's rarely one cause, usually several compounding at once: Harsh skincare habits like over-exfoliating, alcohol-heavy formulas, and cleansers that strip rather than clean Environmental stress, including UV exposure, pollution, free radicals, cold weather and dry air Lifestyle factors, not enough sleep, ongoing stress, smoking, drinking A handful of underlying conditions, such as eczema or the natural changes skin goes through with age These factors wear the barrier down over time. Once compromised, it can't hold onto the moisture it needs to restore itself, so water keeps escaping and the barrier keeps weakening, leaving skin less able to stay balanced and resilient. That's the dehydration loop, and why it tends to worsen the longer it's left. How to Prevent Skin Dehydration Breaking the cycle starts with working with skin rather than against it: protecting the barrier before it's compromised, going easier on skin, limiting exposure to extreme weather and pollution where you can, and not underestimating what sleep, stress and hydration levels do to your complexion. Cleansing is often where the loop begins, so it's worth starting there. Our Replenishing Cleansing Lotion, enriched with softening Marshmallow Root, removes make-up and impurities in a single clean without stripping the skin, and is safe for use around the eye area. For deeper support, our Rare Rose range, powered by our farm-grown Jurlique Rose and Intense Rose — was developed around this exact cycle. For a first surge of hydration, add Rare Rose Serum to your routine. “Rare Rose Serum combines two Jurlique Roses with a dual-molecular-weight of Hyaluronic Acid to replenish moisture, regulate water balance and strengthen the skin barrier,” says Lerond. Prefer something lighter? Rare Rose Emulsion is a sheer alternative. “Rare Rose Emulsion features a sheer, milky texture designed to replenish and soften skin, delivering light yet restorative hydration. Ideal for dry to combination skins,” Lerond notes. To seal everything in, finish with Rare Rose Face Oil. “Rare Rose Face Oil combines Chia Seed Oil, Rosehip Oil, Vitamin E and Squalane, with a Supercritical CO₂ extract of the Jurlique Rose, to support hydrated, supple and radiant skin,” says Lerond. Rare Rose Cream, formulated with our Rose Droplet technology for extended-release hydration and Cupuacu Butter to help retain water, is shown to provide 24-hour hydration¹. Protect the barrier rather than just piling on moisture, go gentler on skin, cut back anything that strips it, and support hydration from within. Because dehydration is temporary rather than a fixed skin type, it tends to respond faster than genuinely dry skin would. What are two warning signs of dehydration? Tightness after cleansing and a duller-than-usual complexion, the two most reliable early signs, usually appearing before fine lines or itchiness do. What is dehydrated skin lacking? Water, not oil. Dehydrated skin can still produce a normal, or even excess, amount of natural oil, which is why it's often mistaken for oily or combination skin rather than recognised as a hydration issue, the fix is about restoring water levels, not stripping more oil away. ¹ Based on a trial of 22 people using Rare Rose Cream, measured by corneometry on the forearm 24 hours after a single application.
